Whenever I want to make yogurt cheese I grab a couple containers from the fridge and get out my yogurt cheese maker.
We crack open a crescent roll container and form 4 rectangles with the dough. Mix the yogurt cheese with a bit of sugar and spread onto rectangles. I then take a handfull of blueberries out of the freezer, run them under some hot water to thaw a bit and sprinkle over the cheese. Then you fold all four corners toward the center in package fashion.
Bake in 375F oven for 16 mins and viola!
You have "cream cheese doughnuts!" We use blueberries because we have so many on hand from our picking forays last summer, but I would imagine this would be great with any type of fruit or berry. Now, I need to learn how to make my own cresent roll dough from scratch and we're all set!

I think you mean to cook those longer than 1 min right? I have a recipe for crescent rolls, it is pretty easy. I'll look it up and post it.
Oooh, thank you for this post. I got one of those yogurt cheese makers for Christmas, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet! I love the idea of the crescent rolls and blueberries - those are like turnovers, aren't they?
Also, how did you best freeze your blueberry harvest from last year? Did you freeze them all in a single layer on a tray first and then pop them in a bag? How long will frozen blueberries keep?
Oh, where did you get your yogurt cheese maker? I got myself a yogurt maker, which I've only tried once as we're a bit busy, but where I stumbled was trying to figure out how to drain the whey so it would be greek yogurt. That looks like just the thing!
Yes, yes...we need like brand and model so we can all look into this! I do it the cooler route and luckily, have had no problems...altho the memory is fading fast! The crescents look terrific.
farmgirl dk: I cant speak for Ang, but the bluberries I got last year I just put them in like the ziploc containers and froze them that way. I did not freeze them on a tray first. They have done great...I am still using them. I am not sure how long you can keep them in the freezer. Ours would be going on almost 7 mos.
Yum!
My wife is going to wish I would quit reading these things because now I want her to try and make this stuff. Homemade cream cheese, oh heck. Thanks for all the great info. We all need to pitch in, buy a huge chunk of land, and start a whole new community. Each family doing what they do best and selling goods to each other.
Oh wait, thats how America originally started. What happened?
christy-oops! Thanks, yeah it's about 16mins. And thanks for the recipe, that would be awesome!
farmgirl-yes, I did the freeze them on trays thing and it worked out well. I can reach in and grab a handful and their not all frozen together in one large clump. As for how long they last I'm not really sure. Ours are going on 8 months and they're perfectly fine!
Laura and Frugalmom-My yogurt and yogurt cheese maker are both Donvier brand and I got them both at Amazon. I actually first heard about these contraptions through Susan at Farmgirl Fare and used her shopping button on the right of the screen so she got a bit of something for my order.
kramer-I'm often thinking the same thing!! :) I'm not sure what quite happened to us Americans, but I'm really glad many of us have found a way to at least connect online. It's great to have this network of shared ideas. I bet your wife would love making it! I wonder if you could get the same results by wrapping the yogurt in a cheesecloth, and hang it to drain and forgo the contraption altogether!
I love those yogurt contraptions! Just added them to my list (it's a big one that keeps growing).
Thanks for the great post!
Holy crow, that is so cool! I didn't even know a gadget like that existed. Hmmm ...
Wow! Guess if I starting making my own I could stop spending so much on the organic yogurt that I buy! And what could be better than wrapping it in crescent dough? I mean, you could wrap an old shoe in a crescent roll and it would be good, right??
tutta-LOL!! I suppose you could! (Have to be a big batch of crescent roll dough! :)
ok, that looks seriously good! I'm going to have to hunt down a Donvier and give this a whirl...
Here is the crescent roll recipe I used. http://home.att.net/~abbaskids/crescentrl.htm
They were pretty good but could have been a little more buttery.
thanks christy, I really appreciate it!
