What wonderful hats. And the great smiles that came with them were an added bonus. Where did you find the thing to make them with. They look perfect.

The hats are fantastic. And it looks like the kids love them.

What I really want to know tho is...do you ever sleep? You are always doing something...and its always cool! But, when do you sleep? Sleep...is what Im wondering about.

Woot! Woot! Way to go!
Those hats are just so cute...almost as cute as the kids.

Last year I knitted 15 hat/scarf sets for gifts, using my round and straight looms.

You've got to get a straight loom, if you haven't already.
You can make anything with your looms, that you could make with knitting needles. It's fast and easy!

Before you know it everyone in your family as well as your friends will be covered with handmade knitted items made my you! hehe

I'm glad you finally tried the looms! Aren't they awesome? The hats are cute. Next thing you know you'll be making crocheted weiner dogs!

The things in the picture are called Knifty Knitters and they are awesome!

Last comment, sorry. It is really easy to make thick socks and slippers on the looms. They are my favorite thing to make. Just google Knifty Knitter socks or slippers.

grammy, melody, mandi, homemoma- christy is right. (of course!) Those are called Knifty Knitter looms. http://www.provocraft.com/products/index.products.php?cl=knifty%20knitter

I've known about them for awhile, but I felt like I would be cheating if I used them. So these past two winters I dutifully pick up the needles and make my rectangles (scarves and dishclothes) and never make any advancement. Meanwhile Christy is cranking out one cool thing after another over on her blog with these things!!! :)

Last week I read somewhere that Walmart (all walmarts, btw) is no longer going to sell yarn and liquidating it's stock. HAD to check that out of course. So, while I was filling the cart with discount yarn, I saw these things and finally caved.

They really are awesome. And so easy. In fact, the hubby made his own hat with one last night in about 2 hours (would have been less time, but he made a really nice, large doubled-up brim on his.)

marcee-well.....I am an insomniac, yes. BUT, I'm not lucky enough to be one of those that builds refrigerators or writes the great american novel while everyone else is snoozing. I just don't sleep, and everyone around me gets to enjoy my lovely personality when I haven't slept in days!! ;)

Lisa-no, I haven't gotten the straight ones yet, what can you do on those babies? HA! I know I'm already schemin' for xmas!! :)

Thanks Kris! Me either! LOL! :)

Michelle-yeah, I doubled up. They picked out the colors themselves! :)

Thanks robbyn-get thee a loom my friend!! LOL! :)

christy-yes, I thought of you when I saw them, and how you've left me and my needles in the dust...so I thought, what the heck!! :) Very happy I did, it is sooooo easy and quick! And this busy momma LOVES that! :) I saw a patern for the slippers, but not the socks! OH!! I would LOVE to make socks...they're my holy grail! ;)

p-HA! Oh, yeah, I can see it now.....how many ER visits do you thing those things will create for me?!?! :)

Woot Woot, you did great! I really need to learn how to knit.

Oh cool! I am heading to Wal Mart at lunch today to see fi I can find one if these. I love those hats!

Let's see the knitters in use sometime!

You are, quite simply, one of the most talented women I know. Beautiful hats, beautiful kids, beautiful blog, beautiful ideas...you are such fun to be around! :-)

Heny Angie,
You asked what you can make on a straight loom.
Well, I've made a blanket, scarves, dishcloths, potholders myself.
But I've been a member of a Knifty Knitters Yahoo group for over a year now ,and many people have created shawls, sweaters, christening outfits, and more!

If you're interested, look up the KNifty Knitters Yahoo group sometime.
They have files brimming over with simple and more complicated patters, whatever you're heart desires.

You mntioned how easy it was for Farm Man to make his own hat and I agree.
My son, who's 11 now, made his own hat, without much instruction from me, when he was just 9 years old.

Knifty Knitters are terrific for beginners or who think they're reading Japanese when trying to decipher the 'codes' in needle craft instruction books.

And just remember, you're not cheating using the knitting looms, because when the projects are done, they both will look the same....and your loom projects was light years quicker to create.
Gotta love that! :)

Cutie Patooties! You did good! Super cute! Hey, we are both Sag's!

erica and kim-get the looms my friend! They are so much easier and so much less time consuming! As someone who's been trying to knit for two years now...I know what I'm talking about here!! ;)

warren- no, I wanna see YOUR looms in action!! :)

ceecee-well, for two weeks or so it was DANG cold out. Now, it's like in the 80's!! It's crazy!

Dorothy, you make me blush.....now what do you want? Seriously....you must be after something.......LOL! :)

Lisa-thanks! I'll check that group out. Yes, I have to admit, I didn't want to try these things for the longest time because I felt like it was cheating. BUT....now that I've tried them I feel so much better because you're right, the time saved is amazing! And those codes do make it sooooooo time consuming. I'm thinking I'll pick the needles back up after I'm less involved with little ones. For now, these looms have me "hooked!!" :)

ALice-HA! I love MRM's humor. I think he and Eric would get along just fine!! :)

adventure girl-well....that certainly makes some sense doesn't it?! LOL! :)

OMG!!! ARen't those things amazing!!! I just finished a prayer shawl for my mother. No one, I mean NO ONE could teach my left-handed self to knit or crochet....I had about given up until these neat little tools!!! You have a great blog!!!

farm mom said...

I'm right there with you Traci! It's sooooo hard to do left handed! And then I get confused with patterns....umm...do I have to reverse everything?! Yeah, these things are wayyyy easier! Glad you like the blog! :)

Hi Lacy-they're the best aren't they? Always happy to see you here!! :)

I'm an insomniac too and not the good type. Just the type that lies awake all night not sleeping. Maybe I should just learn to be the type that gets up and does stuff?

farm mom said...

well, of course we would have that in common too, 'eh Christy? I do the same thing. Just lay there, toss and turn and wittle the hours away trying to sleep. We really should get up and do something, shouldn't we?
